Because Goutly keeps everything on your device and has no account, we can't see your data — so please describe the issue rather than expecting us to look it up. We'll never ask you to send us your health information.

Common questions

My reminders aren't showing up

Reminders are delivered by iOS, so first check that notifications are allowed: iOS Settings → Notifications → Goutly, and make sure Allow Notifications is on. Also check that Focus / Do Not Disturb isn't silencing them and that the reminder times are set correctly in the app. If your phone was off or in Low Power Mode at the scheduled time, a reminder may be delayed.

Where is my data stored? Is it backed up?

Everything you enter stays on your iPhone — there's no account and no cloud of ours. If you have iCloud Backup or an encrypted computer backup turned on in iOS, your Goutly data is included in that Apple-managed device backup, so it can be restored when you set up a new iPhone from that backup. I got a new phone / deleted the app — can I get my data back?

If you set up your new iPhone from an iCloud or computer backup that included Goutly, your data comes back with it. If you deleted the app without a backup, the on-device data is gone and we cannot recover it — because it never left your device, we never had a copy. We recommend keeping device backups on.

How do I change my target or units?

You can update your uric acid target and switch units (mg/dL or µmol/L) in the app's settings. Enter the target your doctor set for you — Goutly simply tracks your readings against it.

Which medications can I track?

Your daily gout medication and any as-needed (rescue) medication your doctor has prescribed. You log what and when; Goutly handles the reminders and keeps the history. Goutly does not recommend medications or doses — always follow your doctor.

Which languages are supported?

English, Vietnamese, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese. Goutly follows your iPhone's language setting.

Is Goutly free?

Yes — Goutly is free to download and use, with no subscription and no in-app purchases.
